Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Courses | MLD Accredited Diploma

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Courses - Accredited Diploma Certificate

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized form of massage that has powerful cleansing, relaxing, pain relieving & immunological effects. It is a gentle, flowing, rhythmic massage and can be applied to a wide range of physical conditions to great effect.

Our course, as with many MLD courses on offer today is similiar to the German Vodder techniques and has been devised by one of our tutors who has 22 years experience within the NHS as a paramedic.

It is particularly useful for the treatment of lymphoedema and swelling that is often seen in response to cancer treatments such as radiotherapy. It’s specialized pumping technique can be used to prevent or treat lymphoedema and improve lymph drainage.

CANCER TREATMENT INFORMATION
MLD is an important treatment for cancer patients and this course has been designed with that in mind, this will enable you to use this with family and friends with cancer.

Please note however that to treat cancer patients and to charge for the treatement FHT will not cover a one day course and you will need to complete a longer course. The FHT and accrediting bodies who insure this course their requirements would be 75 learning hours for this which is around a ten day course.

However you may wish to check with your own insurance company as they are all different, if you are not with FHT or the guild you may find your insurance company will cover you for use with cancer patients then you will be able to use it and charge for the treatment, but it is best to check with your insurance company first if this is what you wish to do.

This is however a stand alone treatment and insurable and many students use this with their clients who do not have cancer as it is very effective treatment and a very popular course you do not have to use it with cancer patients as it has many benefits. For example clients find this treatment as great way to release a build up of toxins and much more.

You can however still gain insurance with this one day course and use the treatment professionally and charge with your clients excluding those with cancer.

Only 6 students per class allowing individual attention at all times, this Manual Lymphatic Drainage Course is an insurable course allowing you to use this therapy with the general public and charge for it.

Here are just some of the moves you will learn on the day:

Manual Lymphatic drainage techniques facilitate the removal of metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules, and foreign substances from tissue via the initial lymph vessels and the venous capillaries. In addition it relaxes the sympathetic nervous system, reduces pain, and enhances the activity of the immune system.

It is an effective treatment for a variety of issues including oedema, skin disorders, headache, sinus congestion, sprains and aches, stress, digestive disorders, before and after surgery to remove tissue congestion and minimize scar formation. It is particularly useful as part of post-mastectomy therapy oedema and fibrosis and relieves pain and tension.

We specialize in providing small classes which makes us one of the most popular training schools. We take a maximum of 6 students for this course to provide individual and personal attention.

Furthermore we are passionate about ensuring you receive excellent training with professional and friendly tutors that provide straight-forward tuition to make sure your day is special.

Post Cancer & Mastectomy Therapy

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specific massage technique which helps with the management of Lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema is chronic tissue swelling, often as a result of cancer or its treatment. For example, after mastectomy surgery, the lymphatic system will have been compromised and lymph nodes in the arm pits may also have been removed. This impedes the normal fluid drainage channels and results in lymph fluid collecting in an area causing swelling and pain.

Research has shown that 1 in 5 breast cancer patients will develop lymphoedema of the arm. Unless this is treated the swelling can increase and eventually become very difficult to manage. Although lymphoedema cannot be completely cured, manual lymphatic drainage is an important therapy for treating this condition.

Ultimately it aims to clear blockages so that excess fluids will be pushed out of the affected areas - MLD also aims to prevent fluids accumulating again.

In today’s Western Culture diet can stress the lymphatic system with excess wastes, toxins and lack of fluid contributing to a sluggish lymphatic system. The result is more anaerobic metabolism which produces more waste and less energy and a self perpetuating cycle begins. Patients can benefit from Lymphatic Drainage Massage as part of a detoxification program leading to improved energy an increase in cellular oxygenation and enhanced immunity.

Manual lymph drainage is extremely gentle and feels wonderfully relaxing. Most patients either fall asleep or go into a highly relaxed state, due to the slow, gentle rhythmic motions involved, which stimulate the movement of lymph through the lymph vessels.

What is Manual Lymph Drain Massage good for?

Lymphatic drainage massage is especially useful for individuals who seem to suffer regularly from common illnesses like colds and flu.

It is also recommended for people who lead sedentary lifestyles, or those who want to reduce oedema, puffiness or swelling.

It has been cited as having a positive effect on:

  • Problem skin & cellulite
  • Dysfunctional respiratory systems
  • People with low energy.

What are the benefits of manual lymph drain massage?

  • Facilitates general feeling of health and vitality
  • Improves appearance of skin, reduces puffiness, water retention especially during pregnancy and assists with poor circulation.
  • Stimulates the lymphatic system boosting the immunity
  • As with other massage, it can help with pain from fractures and sprains and rheumatism, and it promotes the body's own healing mechanisms.
