The Indian head massage treatment involves massage to the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and finishing with the face whilst the client remains seated in an upright position.

This course is open to complete beginners or existing therapists, no previous massage experience required to attend.

Our Indian head massage course is suitable for complete beginners and also existing therapists, this is an insurable course allowing you to use this therapy with the general public and charge for it.

We specialize in providing small classes which makes us one of the most popular training schools. We take a maximum of 8 students for this course to provide individual and personal attention.

We also offer an Indian head massage course DVD covering everything you learn on the day for just £10 so then you will always have this available to remind you of the technique.

The qualification gained from the following course will only be accepted for professional practice and insurance if the student holds the pre-requisites of A&P and an accredited body massage qualification.

Also for Existing FHT Members only they require 6 case studies x 3 treatments - 18 treatments in total. Remember this is ONLY for Indian head massage no other courses require any case studies

If you are a beginner and do not belong to a professional body you can still attend this course and you will not be required to do any case studies.

HOWEVER IF YOU WISH TO JOIN A PROFESSIONAL BODY AND YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS TRAINING YOU CAN REGISTER WITH THE CMA OR THE BEAUTY GUILD WHO DO NOT HAVE ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR YOU TO JOIN. YOU ARE ABLE TO OBTAIN THEIR COVER WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE IN MASSAGE SO IF YOU ARE A COMPLETE BEGINNER THEY WILL ACCEPT YOU.

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system using the upper Chakras and this tradition is still carried out in modern India today. A person born in India can expect to be massaged regularly from their birth to their death by members of their family.

Indian women apply various natural vegetable oils, according to the seasons, the oils are believed to strengthen, condition and fragrance the hair, thus maintaining a lustrous texture and healthy growth. Furthermore the efficiency of the circulatory and lymphatic systems improves, toxins are dispersed from tense muscles and flexibility and fluidity of movement is restored.

The head, more than any other part of our body represents who we are. It is the centre of our nervous system, and home to our identity and intelligence. The Chakra at the top of our head (Crown Chakra) is the one we use to communicate with our higher self. If our head feels good, we feel good.

The Indian head massage course and routine you are studying does not use oils; however you can use them as part of your treatment. You can follow this course with our popular Natural Lift Facial Massage course, which incorporates a unique blend of highly effective techniques from Indian Face Massage.

In a similar way to reflexology all the organs are not only linked to nerves in the feet but also to the head, for those clients who do not like their feet being touched or for those clients who love their head being massaged this is an ideal course!

The massage to the head is not only very relaxing but you get to give the whole body an MOT releasing toxins and stimulating organs to work more efficiently.

You will be working on the neck, shoulders, scalp and arms finishing with a lovely facial. The routine takes half an hour and your client will receive a wonderful treatment benefiting them on many levels.

Although Indian Head Massage has existed India for many years it has only recently started to gain popularity in the West. This massage works on areas of the body particularly prone to stress, especially the neck and the shoulders where tension affects major muscle groups, it can often bring immediate relief. These tensions are eased and fibrous knots and nodules melt away, no expensive equipment is required making it available to all.

Can I really learn enough in just one day?

YES! Our philosophy is to keep classes small that way more attention can be given to each student. You will learn the same technique offered by other companies; however we pride ourselves on one to one tuition in smaller classes. If the tutor feels a second day is needed this will be offered free of charge.

You will receive a comprehensive manual on the day to take home which covers the course material. This includes all the relevant Anatomy and physiology and details on how to get insurance.

Additionally we have produced our own DVD's which show the techniques step-by-step exactly as you have learnt them; including the contraindications.

The DVD will also be available on the day of the course and makes an excellent visual reference (£10.00). These DVD's are available exclusively to our students and cannot be purchased without attending the course. Gateway Workshops feel it is essential that you've both performed and received the massage and training to ensure you are safe and competent.

This therapy lasts for half an hour (30 mins) and the tutor will advice you about the cost to charge your clients and insurance cover on the day of training.

How to Book

Scroll to the bottom of this page select a venue of interest and you will be taken to the dates available - all you have to do is select the date you wish to book and follow the easy instructions.

You can book 24hrs online with a credit or debit card using our safe World Pay payment system. A small deposit will secure you chosen place.

If you wish to pay the deposit by cheque please fill out a booking form with your details first and you will be taken to the cheque payment page with further information.

Final payment is 14 days before the course or 4 weeks if it is an ITEC course - details will be emailed to you for this by the tutor once you have booked & paid your deposit.

For last minute bookings (you can book the evening before) you can pay cash or cheque on the day. Due to small classes places are only booked once the deposit has been paid & it is on a first come first served basis, early bookings are advised due to limited places.

A reminder:You do not need to take anything with you to the class, all massage couches, chairs, towels and equipment are all provided. You do not need to wear a therapist tunic or whites - comfortable clothing is fine.

You do not need to take a model with you as you will work with another student on the day of training, the class runs with 2 or more people booked on and you can book 24 hours before the start date if you wish.
