Manual Lymphatic Drainage Courses
10 December 2008
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) has been practised in Europe for many years; however it is a relatively new therapy in this country. We are proud to say we now offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage courses and they are proving popular with our students.
MLD is has powerful cleansing, relaxing and immunological benefits by the use of movements which promote lymphatic drainage by stimulating and triggering the receptors in the lymphatic vessel walls.
The benefits of MLD are wide and varied and feedback from our students suggests that it has been a highly effective treatment to offer their clients making our Manual Lymphatic Drainage courses very popular.
Amongst these benefits, students have reported significant improvements in:-
· Sinus drainage and clearance (from our MLD facial routine which is part of the course content)
· Oedema – this can be particularly beneficial for post-mastectomy clients and those who have had recent surgery where oedema can develop during recovery phase.
· Those who suffer with regular colds and infections or those who are recovering from longer illnesses such as ME or Glandular fever. One of the functions of the lymphatic system is to help promote something called Phagocytosis – this process (part of the immune system) is what the body uses to destroy dead or foreign cells such as bacteria or viruses.
MLD is also well documented in promoting:
· Optimum functioning of the liver and kidneys.
· Weight loss – this is because part of the lymphatic systems function is to remove excess water and toxins from the cellular tissues. Modern lifestyles and poor diet, plus lack of exercise contribute to excess weight. There are a number of lymphatic vessels in many organs and tissue including the intestines where excess lipids (fats) are removed by the lymphatic system.
· Facial oedema after cosmetic surgery
· These are some of the major benefits; however this list is not exhaustive!
Our students constantly tell us that their clients want this treatment, but the truth is that there are relatively few practitioners of this therapy in the complementary therapy industry.
Our course will provide you with the skills you need to offer this treatment as one of your mainstream therapies. To view the course information visit our course page for venues and dates on offer.
